Guana Lake’s bioluminescence is a nightly fixture. Unlike the well known bioluminescence in the Indian River Lagoon, this captivating phenomenon is protected behind the dam and can be observed throughout the year. What’s more, Guana Lake boasts larger concentrations of comb jellies, creating an awe-inspiring spectacle of shimmering waters adorned with countless sparkling lights and swirling orbs.

Tours began operating in 2021, but were not publicly announced until the following year. You now have the opportunity to explore the shallow depths of the bioluminescent Guana Lake after hours,  courtesy of North Guana Outpost and their special permit access granted by the GTM NERR. Only tours arranged through NGO have the privilege to invite the public to stay in after the gates lock at 9pm.
